If you've seen Nicole Kidman on the silver or small screen, you know her skin is pretty much flawless. Lucky for her fans, the 52-year-old actress just spilled her beauty secrets in a recent interview with Allure. Her biggest anti-aging tool? Sunscreen—and lots of it.

"I used to be like, ‘All those creams, who cares?’ But definitely as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized those creams are necessary," the Big Little Lies star shared with the mag. "I’m shooting outdoors a lot, so the most important thing is the sunscreen — I use Neutrogena SPF 100+." (Worth noting: Nicole is a spokesperson for the brand.)

And she's religious about reapplying.

"I reapply every 90 minutes, every single day,” she said.

While Nicole's own skin is proof of the power of SPF (and good genes, of course), she might be on to something here. Higher SPFs really may be more powerful, per the latest data.

In fact, a sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF 100 was significantly more protective against sunburn than one with SPF 50, a recent study found, indicating that the higher the
SPF number, the better. (FYI: the research didn’t address the effect on skin-aging UVA rays.)

While Nicole reapplies every 90 minutes, NYC dermatologist Kristina Goldenberg, MD, says that you need to reapply every two hours and after you sweat or swim. Oh, and regardless of the SPF you use, you should pay attention to the expiration date of your sunscreen.
